CATRIN KAITARO is a dance artist currently based in Helsinki, Finland. She works as a freelancer moving between performing arts, pedagogy and filmmaking. In addition to her professional dance studies in Finland (Outokumpu), she has trained in contemporary dance in France (Centre Chorégraphique James Carles) and Senegal (Ecole des Sables). She has also completed studies in dance pedagogy and cinematography/audiovisual media.

Catrin works as a performer and facilitator in contemporary dance, improvisation and partnering in various contexts, from amateurs to professionals. At the moment, in addition to producing and teaching workshops and events all around Finland and abroad, she also leads a community dance project with elderly people in care homes, leads hiking retreats in the nature and plans future movie projects.

Thanks to her Axis Syllabus studies, training as a sports massage therapist and years of studying somatic pilates, she has a solid understanding of the anatomical and biomechanical starting points to guide students to move in a sustainable and efficient way. Recent years, she has also been strongly influenced by contact improvisation, play-fight/liquid body (Bruno Caverna) -practices, martial arts and other eastern practices such as taiji/qigong.
